About Us

Society of Basic and Clinical Toxicology Nigeria (SBCTN) is an interdisciplinary society of scientists whose research areas concern the study of the potential and actual harmful effects of synthetic and natural chemicals, biological and physical agents on biological systems and living organisms. Members also include scientists whose researches deaf with the discovery, design, optimization and development of chemical compounds and other substances for use as drugs.

SBCTN was borne out of the necessity to harness researches and activities of researchers in the field of basic and clinical toxicology in Nigerian tertiary Institutiions.

Dr. Anthony Fidelis Uwah, a clinical Toxicologist and Dr. Jessie Idongesit Ndem, a biochemical toxicologist conceived and midwived the birth of the Society in 2018.

The Society aims to promote the acquisition, utilization and decimination of knowledge in basic and clinical toxicology, for the purpose of facilitating the discipline. The Society also provide a platform where scientists, researchers and professionals engage ideas, exchange information and work collaboratively for the development and use of interdisciplinary scientific purposes and practices to enhance quality of life and protection of the public.

The Society is incorporated with the Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission(CAC) and publishes a peer-reviewed scientific journal - International Journal of Basic and Clinical Toxicology (IJBCT).
